5 Months

Oh my goodness, it's that time of the month again. Sallie Rose's month birthday. She woke up the same as she has for the last couple of months, smiling as big as she can and so excited that someone had come to reach in her big, white crib to take her to eat some formula. However, this month she is upside down in the crib with the bottom half of her pajamas off. She wears a sleep sack to bed and when I get her out of it, her pajama legs are completely off. She moves so much during her sleep now. Either that or she gets too hot, takes off her sleep sack, unbuttons her bottom half and zips her sleep sack back up. She is smart, but don't know that she is that smart.

She changes so much everyday and is growing so much. She officially rolled over onto her stomach the day before her 5 month birthday. The "books" say that rolling from her back to stomach would be the most difficult, but she can do that and can't figure out how to roll back. She rolls over in the middle of the night and cries for us to come roll her back over. Darn kid. It's kind of cute watching her on the monitor trying to roll back over. Kevin worries that she will not be able to turn back over and harm herself trying. She'll figure it out one day and I can go back to sleeping all night.
Let's see what else is new this fifth month??? She is beginning to be able to sit up on her own. She eats rice cereal and is now on Mom's homemade butternut squash. Next will be sweet potatoes. I swore I wouldn't take the time to make our own baby food, but after a few great suggestions from Kam and Teri and giving it a good ole fashion try, I decided to do it. It was not that time consuming and I really enjoy cooking and making my family healthy meals. It makes me think that I am making my Grandma Rosa proud by being somewhat of a housewife. She always wanted to know how many times a week I cooked. Uhhh, none. Not anymore. I cook about 3 or 4 nights a week. Wooo hooo, housewife of the year!!!
Sallie Rose loves her tot rider, kindermusik, laying in the park with Mom, hanging out with Aunt Susan, playing with Nana and Pop Pop (Kevin's parents), and practicing walking with Daddy. I took her to the playground on St. Patrick's Day and she loved watching the kids play. She absolutely loves other kids. Other than that, she is a great baby and is giggling more and more everyday. Kevin and I both feel that every night when she goes to bed she wakes up the next morning having grown and developed so much over night. I am beginning to get that feeling of her growing up too fast already. This is the point where she goes from needing to be rocked and held to not wanting to sit still and we can't get a good 5 minute rock in. I will definitely miss that long rock and quiet time at night before bed.
Sallie Rose, Mom loves you and is excited about you growing and becoming more and more of a little person. You are beautiful, sweet, fun, and an all around good baby. Happy 5 month birthday! Oh, and thanks for being a good sleeper most of the time. I am not good at functioning on little sleep.

Spring time in the South on Sunday

The azaleas are blooming, the sun is shining, the bees are buzzing and Sallie Rose is growing. Lots of pictures, but I just couldn't decide which ones were the cutest. We enjoyed a beautiful Sunday afternoon in the park. Daddy is really protective of her skin and was very adamant about her wearing her sunshade hat. I didn't mind cause it looks so cute.

On the Move

Sallie Rose has a new favorite toy. This was a hand me down from one of my best friend's mom. She had it in her attic and her grandchildren are all too old for it, so she passed it down to Sallie Rose. It has really come in handy. She loves to stand in it and can actually move it already.

The name of the toy is Tot Rider, and it and Sallie Rose have a theme song. It goes like this: Go Tot Rider, Tot Rider, Tot tot rider (It is a lot catchier when you hear it). Fastest, four wheeled, slobber covered toy in the neighborhood. What a great toy and it didn't cost us a dime. Thanks Miss Lindy Aiken!

Mmmm...Food

Sallie Rose has started eating rice cereal. She really liked it and did a great job of eating it. She hadn't been sleeping a whole lot these last couple of weeks and I finally realized that she was probably hungrier than usual. Well, evidently she was because she slept like an angel last night.

Happy 4 month birthday

That baby girl, Sallie Rose, is growing up right before my eyes. She is 4 months old this week. She is changing little by little everyday. She must be having a growth spurt, because she is definitely a lot fussier than usual. She hardly ever cried before, now she is really starting to take after her Dad, grouchy. No, she is still a very good and easy baby, but not as easy as she used to be. I guess 4 months of baby bliss is enough. She has to grow into her stages, I don't know that I am ready for that yet.

With the grouchiness comes all the beautiful smiles and giggles. She is still so happy in the mornings and smiles now when one of us walks in the room. She plays with her toys, tries to roll over, and loves when we read her books. She is very interested in patterns and colors. She really enjoys other children too. We took her to a Kindermusik class this past Saturday and she loved seeing the other kids. She is a social butterfly.
I don't know how much she weighs these days, but she is still pretty small. She just started wearing her 3-6 months clothes and they are a little too big. She must be long though, because some pants are too short. Kevin always comments on how big her feet are. If they are any preview about her height, then she is probably going to be tall. We'll see.

She is with Susan everyday while we are at work and I believe they are having a really good time. Susan has been great about keeping me and Kevin in the loop of Sallie Rose's daily life. We are really lucky to have such a great person and such a great situation for Sallie Rose.
Here are some pictures from this weekend on our Staycation.

Here she is the morning of her 4 month birthday. Happy as a clam! I surprised her with the camera. I wish I could have gotten a shot of her expression after the flash. Love it!!!

Lost Baggage

Are dark circles and big bags under your eyes just another wonderful part of motherhood? It seems that no matter how much I sleep (not as must as I used too, obviously), I still can not get rid of these black circles? Did someone lose their baggage and desperately want it back? I will give it back in a heartbeat. Oh, I will give back the baggage on my thighs and butt also to whoever will claim them. That was not there this time last year. Maybe someone misplaced them over the Christmas holiday.
This is what I feel like most days.
